This page explains how the content on GISConverter, every converter page, guide and definition, is produced, checked and kept current. It exists so you can judge for yourself how much to trust what you read here.
Everything on this site is written and maintained by Ghulam Hasnain, a PhD researcher in, Space Science & Technology, who works with the formats covered here, shapefiles, KML, GPX, GeoJSON, DXF and spreadsheets, in real research projects every week. There is no content farm and no outsourced writing.
Converter pages document the actual behaviour of the tool on that page. Before a how-to step or a "what to check" warning is published, it is run against the live converter with real files, and the described output (for example, the five files inside a shapefile zip, or a WKT column landing at the end of a CSV) is verified by opening the result in QGIS, Google Earth or Excel. Writing tools, including AI assistance, are sometimes used for drafting, but no page is published without being reviewed, corrected and tested by the author against the real converter, and behaviour claims come from those tests rather than from other websites.
Format facts are checked against primary sources: the OGC KML standard, RFC 7946 (GeoJSON), Esri's shapefile technical description, the GPX 1.1 schema, the EPSG registry and the GDAL/OGR documentation, the same open-source engine this site runs in your browser.
Guides show their publication date and, where relevant, an updated date; both match the page's structured metadata. Content is reviewed on an ongoing basis and the whole site is audited at least yearly; pages that no longer earn their place are consolidated or removed rather than left to rot. Found an error? Email hello@gisconverters.com and it will be corrected, with the updated date changed only when the fix is substantive.
GISConverter is free to use. If advertising is shown, ad units are clearly labelled, are served by Google AdSense, and have no influence on what the content says: no page ranks a product, accepts sponsorship, or contains affiliate links. The converter itself never requires payment, an account, or an upload.
